Description: The Beretta M1934 that Kirika uses is a small Italian automatic pistol manufactured in 1934, as the name indicates. This compact pistol proved so popular with the Italian Army and Air Force that it became the standard issue sidearm of Mussolini’s Fascist forces. After Italy had withdrawn from the war, a number of these pistols could also be found at the side of officers of the German Wehrmacht. This compact pistol was not only favored by the Axis though, Allied GIs returning from the European theater brought home many of these popular guns as war trophies.

The M1934 was an exceptional gun for the time, and wound up being offered post-war for civilian sale all the way up until 1958. Several compact pistols were considered for Kirika’s personal sidearm, such as the Walther PPK made famous by James Bond and the Glock 26. Wanting something with a "classic, European feel" to befit the premise of Noir’s story, it was decided that the Beretta would be the weapon of choice for Kirika.

While the M1934 does come up lacking in terms of firepower and magazine capacity, this handicap was overcome by Kirika’s superior shooting abilities, and the fact that most of Noir’s confrontations take place in close quarters—allowing for the gun to be used with maximum efficiency.
